Born to Market: How My Journey in Marketing Shaped My Mission to Empower Entrepreneurs

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my career, it’s that I was born for this. Marketing has been my language, my art form, and my stage since I was a teenager promoting plays in high school. Back then, I learned how to fill seats, generate buzz, and create a connection between art and audience. It wasn’t just about selling tickets—it was about telling a story and drawing people in. That lesson has stayed with me, shaping every step of my journey.

From Theater to Thriving Businesses

With a degree in theater and performance, I honed my creative instincts early on. But alongside acting, I discovered my true calling: helping others shine. I found immense joy in promoting the arts and bringing attention to meaningful work. From higher education to nonprofit organizations, I spent years crafting campaigns, building brands, and amplifying missions. But as much as I loved the creativity of the work, I often felt boxed in by the confines of traditional structures.

For someone who thrives on innovation and thinking outside the box (or better yet, pretending the box doesn’t even exist), the rigidity of certain environments didn’t align with my creative soul. After three years of searching for something that felt right, I was let go from a nonprofit communications job. While the experience was unexpected, it turned out to be the catalyst for my greatest transformation.

Stepping Into Entrepreneurship

That evening, I went home, opened LinkedIn, and simply asked, “Does anyone need marketing help?” Within hours, I landed my first three clients, all former colleagues who trusted my expertise. This was 12 years ago, back when LinkedIn was a hidden gem for networking. Those first projects reminded me of my passion for solving problems, generating ideas, and helping people articulate their value. From website builds to brand strategies, I rediscovered the power of marketing to change lives—and businesses.

Six months later, I walked into my first BNI meeting and knew I’d found my people. Networking wasn’t just about referrals for me—it was about connection. It was the energizing force I needed to balance the loneliness of early entrepreneurship. In that room, I claimed my seat as someone who helps businesses figure out their identity and their next steps. The goal? Get clients in the door, make meaningful connections, and ensure that every business I touch feels as aligned and inspired as the people behind it.

Bridging the Practical and the Spiritual

As I grew my business, I realized I wasn’t just helping entrepreneurs market their businesses. I was helping them reconnect with their purpose. Too often, I saw passionate individuals burn out because they didn’t know how to balance their dreams with the day-to-day demands of entrepreneurship. They were overwhelmed, stuck, and drowning in perfectionism.

That’s when I started integrating a deeper, more spiritual approach into my work. I asked clients questions like, Why do you think you’re here? What’s meaningful to you? These conversations unlocked something powerful. Suddenly, I wasn’t just a marketing strategist—I was a guide helping them align their energy and intuition with practical business strategies.

This fusion of woo-woo wisdom and marketing badassery became my signature style. Whether it’s building a six-figure business, crafting magnetic brand messaging, or tackling something as specific as email marketing, I work with my clients to create progress over perfection. It’s not about doing everything; it’s about doing what feels right.

A Vision for 2025 and Beyond

As I step into 2025, I’m doubling down on this integrative approach. I’m launching a course to help soulful entrepreneurs tap into their energy and intuition while building a business that aligns with their values. It’s about trusting yourself, taking bold action, and creating momentum one small step at a time.

This year, I’ve also launched my podcast, SoulBiz BFF, where I share insights from my 12 years as a business coach. It’s a space where I get to combine my love for storytelling with practical advice, helping others feel seen, inspired, and empowered on their entrepreneurial journeys.
