Hello, is anybody home?
That’s what your website visitors think when they look at your site and the content is out of date or hasn’t been updated in a long time. That’s what your fans on Social Media think when they “drive by” your pages to see what’s up and the last post was literally eons ago. Are you making time for consistent content?
Remember: Social Media attention spans are not very long, so posting even a couple of weeks ago seems like “forever” ago!
Now, before I dive too deeply into maintaining a consistent schedule of posting and the like, let’s focus on what’s really important here: What NOT posting for long periods of time does to a trusted brand?
Remember: Branding is who you are- what you stand for- what you’re known for. A great brand is a trusted brand.
That said, when your posting schedule falls off the map, your visitors or lookee-loos begin to feel like you don’t care about them. It is most likely absolutely NOT true, but this is the feeling they’re left with when you, in their eyes, disappear from social platforms or from blogging regularly on your website.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Homework- It’s time to do a little planning, so that your accounts don’t go “dark”. I recommend doing some scheduling out of posts, but even more importantly, I recommend getting yourself signed up for a program like Content Planning 101. Wendy Sloneker will put you through the paces of strategic content planning and make it easy AND fun. Get ahead now, so that you don’t feel stressed later.
