What is your “one thing” for today?

marketing

So, what’ll it be this week… when it comes to marketing your business?

It’s Monday again. There are five days ahead in your week in which to conquer your to-do list. You organize your desk- pens, paper, laptop- all at the ready. Coffee at your side. You’re ready to get to work on your business.

You glance at your to-do list and wonder eyes-wide, “Where do I start when it comes to marketing?”

We all want more customers, right?

Right. Customers. Inquiries. Interest. Sales.

That’s the goal, isn’t it? Of course! As business owners, we are all looking for an increase in all of these things. It doesn’t happen auto-magically, I promise you. You need to put some attention and intention on it.

Psst… Here’s the secret: If you want more sales, you have to do more marketing.

What’s your one thing?

If marketing is something you loathe doing, partly because you don’t know what to do, and partly because you don’t know what to do first, you need to ask yourself the following:

1. What is one thing I can do today to market my business (engage my customers)?

2. What is one thing I am good at when it comes to marketing my business (engaging my customers)?

3. How much time am I willing to spend per week marketing my business (engaging my customers)?

The answers to these questions will enlighten you- and, more importantly, narrow the focus of your marketing efforts to doing what you’re good at, but also on what you’re willing to make time for.

Further, if you look at marketing your business as creating engagement opportunities with your customers, you just might be able to see more clearly what some of the options are for connecting with them.

Make time to make marketing matter

If even just the idea of marketing your business stops you in your tracks with overwhelm, I have great news for you.

Get ready for this:
Spending only a few minutes per day on marketing can make a significant impact on raising your brand awareness.

Remember, more marketing leads to more sales. And even just five minutes a day could do a lot!

Let’s assume you work five days per week on average. Five minutes per work day is 25 minutes per work week. In less than 30 minutes per work week, you could change the way your customers (and prospects) think about you. Plus, they’ll be thinking of you more often.

5 ways to use your 5 minutes

1. Reach out to some of your best and most loyal clients to thank them for their business.

2. Reach out to some of your best and most loyal clients to thank them for their business- and ask for a review or testimonial for your website or social channels.

3. Post an update on your social media channels. Keep it short and on message.

4. Brainstorm next month’s blog topics. What will be your theme for the month?

5. Schedule coffee with one of your best referral or network partners and catch up.

You will notice that each of the suggestions in the list has to do with building better relationships and generating more consistent communication with your audiences, prospects and customers.

Each of these audiences needs you to share information, updates, education and appreciations on the regular. All it takes is a few minutes a day to begin and sustain the process. Get ready to feel accomplished, productive and empowered. It’s all there. You can do it!

Quick tip: Take an extra minute now to mark your calendar with a weekly reminder to do just one thing to engage and communicate with your customers. They’ll be glad you did.
